About Me

I am passionate about reclaiming the medicine within the soil and the innate healing that lies there and also the use of movement as an expression of all that moves through us. This led to my learning and interest around neurodivergence. Certain neural types find the version of the culture we are living in currently as an explosion to the senses, a pace that is simply too fast.

My dear Mum was diagnosed with ‘schizophrenia’ when I was a teen, so I have been learning about mental illness for a long time. This led to wanting to understand more about what this is and what it means. It has been the motivation behind most of the trainings that I have done.

In my enquiries with her it made me question everything around ways of seeing the thinking mind, our sense of belonging, our intra-connection with the natural world, the effects of pharmaceuticals and what being embodied means.

Yoga became my home place for my own journey, training for many years and teaching. Friends of Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and Heart of Yoga.

During my University Honours Degree in Herbal Medicine, I was fascinated by Pharmacology and Clinical Medicine, which explained the ways drugs work in the body and how certain diseases are defined by what is going on in the body.

I am trained to offer a comprehensive look at all the systems of the physical body and offer herbs to support it. I have also trained in the use of Medicinal Mushrooms, in Polyvagal Theory and specialise in herbs that support regulation of the nervous system and hormonal system.

I have travelled to many countries solo, delving into many forms of meditation in movement and silence retreats to discover what was there within. Shaking and whirling and releasing and being still. This 2-year period culminated in 40 days in the dark, fasting with no contact to another or the outside world. The timing of all this was so welcome for my learnings.

My daughter arrived not long after this and I dedicated myself to NVC for 7 years, immersing myself and taking the Intensive training. I’ve run groups around NVC skills called speaking your heart with an open mind, I've also run restorative circles and this also led to holding grief tending spaces.

My learnings around communication continued in the Orphan Wisdom School which I was in for 5 years. Discovering ways in which our understanding of words impacts the way we see the world and how ‘the West’ came to look as it does now. This came alongside a 5-year dive into African dance, movement with the landscape and spirit house ceremonies. During a month in Zimbabwe with my daughter, I witnessed the difference that language makes to the way our world is perceived.

This led me to finding practices that lay roots, that remind me of the web of our existence, and remind me of the awe-inspiring beauty all around.

I had no idea but all of this learning was also what I needed for my neurodivergent brain.

I dedicate my work to my Mum for the learning that she gave me and my step-parent who supported me to follow that learning.
